We parked in front of this abandoned gas station.
Right across the road from Joppa Missionary Baptist Church, on Acorn Hill Road in Hobbsville, NC.

We parked, but remained in our car for safety, because leaving the woods was a hunter with a rifle, followed by a pack of 20 beagles.

But as it turns out, this wasn’t a hunting expedition, but a training exercise. So after the hunter/trainer passed us, we headed into the field to the highpoint.

Highpoint is in the trees at the end of the ditch.

Two tired and thirsty beagles accompanied us rather than follow their trainer back home.

They were still wandering around the woods when we left, despite our pleas of “Go home, puppies!”
