(#29/100 North Carolina county highpoints)

Look at this pretty little road.
The highpoint is just there, in the pines to the left of the fence.
But….

And what is the United States government protecting?

Now let’s back up.

Further back.

Ok, this is weird. Our highpoint is actually on some kind of strange peninsula. Let’s look at an aerial view.

Quarry Sand is a fine cream/beige colored rubble consisting of course and fine aggregates to maximize compaction. This is a great product for compacting in driveways, underneath paving and concrete.
We make use of a lot of products without thinking where they come from.

I’m just glad the United States has protected the highpoint!

I didn’t have my big zoom lens on the camera, but that’s a Northern Mockingbird.

Does the Northern Mockingbird still have the black & white striped tailfeathers?

Their tails are mostly dark gray with some white feathers on the edges that you see when they fly.
